Our Story

 Gavin Fry Books is a new online store offering my own books as well as books I have published on behalf of other authors through my publishing entity, Edmund & Alexander Books. I am based in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales and maintain strong connections with my Sydney publisher, the Beagle Press, and with a number of printing companies in Melbourne. As a widely published author on Australian art and history, I now harness contemporary technology to design and publish books for other artists and authors. It is a satisfying challenge to bring to notice many artists who, for one reason or another, have been lost to history. The books that will be available on this site range from fresh new publications to some that first saw the light of day three decades ago.

Gavin Fry is a writer, artist and museum professional with fifty years experience working in curatorial and management positions in Australian museums, galleries and educational institutions. He is the author of twenty-five books on Australian art and history and a large number of catalogue and journal essays. In retirement Gavin has returned to his art training and exhibits as a painter in Newcastle and Melbourne. Gavin holds the degrees of Bachelor of Arts [Hons] and Master of Arts from Monash University and Master of Philosophy from Leicester University.
